of Caves, Chickenpox, Chinese food, Cake and Cowboys

How many things that start with C can you fit in a title? :)

Last weekend we went with some friends to Cathedral Caverns. It was a FREEZING COLD, blustery day...but all that doesn't matter so much when you are underground. We had a great time in the cave and the boys loved it. We may just have to go back again sometime, when its warm enough to have a picnic afterward or something. :)

Our "littles" (the 2 youngest) started getting Chickenpox on Valentine's Day. I guess that was Joel's way of "dressing up in red." :) Lillianna got it the next day and now they covered with spots all over. We have had one really bad night with each one, but I'm thinking they may be on the downhill side of it. We have gotten our pediatrician to "document" their cases, since apparently you have to do that now that the Chickenpox Vaccine (which some people think is nuts!! and i don't like so much myself) is required for pretty much any social/school activity.

Kevin and I celebrated Valentine's Thursday night with a "at-home date night." We put the kids to bed early and had a candlelit dinner at a table for two. I tried my hand at making Chinese (which we tried not long after we were married and we majorly failed!) This time was much, MUCH better so Kevin might be enlisting me to make it more often. (He would eat Chinese every day if he could) I also made little heart red velvet cakes for dessert, which were very yummy. :)

Yesterday we went to exchange a cowboy hat that Canaan got for his birthday (it was too small) so I just  thought I would end with a picture for my two big cowboy brothers from last night. Mighty Fine ain't they?

Random Thoughts

- Lillianna is getting her other bottom tooth and is drooling like CRAZY! Her shirt was soaking wet yesterday. Might be part of the reason I am up with her right now and it is 2:53 am.

- Canaan turned 3 last week and we had a cowboy birthday (pictures to follow...hopefully) for him last weekend. Thanks to Mr. Dan and Mrs. Shawn for letting us have it at their home...and horseback rides

- I am reading One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp...wonderful, powerful, convicting.

- 2 people showed our house this week...maybe we will have a buyer before too long.

- Marriages are falling apart all around. It grieves me and makes me conscious of how important it is to WORK at the relationship that many take for granted...and that it is only by God's grace that we can make this work.

- Lillianna is trying to start walking. Took her first step February 1st.

- Kevin has a Math Tournament tomorrow at the Davidson Center...I almost wish I was going ;)

- The HelloMornings Challenge is going pretty well. It is amazing how much better my morning/day goes when I get up for my children and not to them.

- This book is a great read for young mothers. It is even written in very short chapters so that busy, young mothers can read it.

- Lillianna is starting to get whiny now...maybe she will go back to sleep...
